Old Testament

The Hebrew Scriptures, which we share with our Jewish brothers and sisters, help us understand God and our ancestors in faith.

The Pentateuch is what we call the first five books of the Old Testament: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. These books contain core stories from Creation through the life of Moses. The stories have history at their core but are told as faith "stories" to teach lessons about the Israelites growing relationship with God. These five books are the basis of God's salvation history.
