Church Year

The liturgical year includes seasons of Advent, Christmas, Ordinary Time, Triduum, and Easter. Lectionary cycles also mark the sacred passage of time. Within the liturgical year are saints days and feast days.

Creed

Justice and Service

All Christians are called to lives of service, especially on behalf of the poor and vulnerable members of society. One can discern distinct themes in the body of Catholic social teaching which lead Christians to both action and advocacy for those in need. Catholics respond to the call to service in individual and communal ways.

Moral Living

What is right and wrong? How does one develop an informed conscience? An array of issues confront Christians every day as they seek to live with integrity and Christian values, which are based on Scripture and Church tradition.

Prayer & Spirituality

All Christians are called to holiness by virtue of their baptism. Active membership in a community of faith where one learns the practices of prayer and other spiritual disciplines is the first principle of a healthy prayer life and spirituality. Each person responds to God's call by living a distinct spirituality based upon his/her life situation, offering individual gifts in response to communal need.

Sacraments & Worship

Liturgy, especially the Sunday Eucharistic celebration, is the source and summit of Christian life. Through sacramental worship, we celebrate our faith and we draw strength from God's grace to live our faith actively in the world.

Scripture

Sacred Scripture, along with Church Tradition, is a pillar of Catholicism. Bible reading, study, and reflection puts us in intimate conversation with God. Prayerful knowledge of both the Old Testament and New Testament are essential components of Christian living. The four Gospels, which include the words and deeds of Jesus, are primary among the biblical texts.
