An old family tradition is the stirring of the bowl of Plum Pudding on the first Sunday of Advent: “Stir- up Sunday.” The pudding (prepare it the Saturday before Advent begins) is filled with the good things of the world and is meant to represent Christ who will bring with him on his birthday all of the good things of heaven.
