Praying through Lent & Easter

This session explores how to pray during Lent and Easter. No other season or feast throughout the year calls for deeper, more heartfelt prayer than Lent and Easter. Lent calls us to pray as Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane, offering humble obedience to the will of the Father. And the Easter season calls each of us to prayerfully consider how to fulfill our baptismal promise of discipleship.

The Death & Resurrection of Jesus

This session explores the paschal mystery, the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ: “For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead. And his kingdom will have no end” (Nicene Creed). Participants will journey with Jesus through the liturgies from the Last Supper through Good Friday to the Easter Vigil, discovering the meaning of the paschal mystery and its significance for our faith as Christians. • By John Roberto

Death of the Messiah

This session on following Jesus explores the meaning and significance of Jesus’ death on the cross. It immerses people in Jesus’ journey to the cross through an experience and exploration of the Scriptural Stations of the Cross. Through an examination of the Gospels, participants will discover why Jesus was sentenced to death and crucified by the religious and civil authorities of his day. The example of Jesus’ commitment to do the will of God, even to the point of sacrificing his own life, serves as a model for all of his followers.
